Job summary

We are looking for an experienced nurse who is enthusiastic, motivated, and able to build relationships with teams, young people and their families effectively. It is essential for you to have experience of working with children and adolescents and/or the justice system. It would also be beneficial to demonstrate sound understanding of attachment theory, the impact of adverse childhood experience, trauma and its impact on development.

This role is challenging and rewarding. The role will require lone working, but you will have access to support from the youth offending service and Redbridge EWMHS. You will attend the weekly complex case meeting and monthly Redbridge EWMHS team meeting. A full induction will be provided.

Nursing posts within youth offending service do not come around often within Redbridge. This is a fantastic opportunity and there are ongoing discussions to make this post permanent.

An exciting opportunity has risen for a qualified and experienced mental health nurse. Redbridge Youth Offending Service (YOS) is looking for a mental health nurse with experience of working with children, young people and families to join their team. The YOS nurses provide support to the youth offending service in Redbridge community healthcare. If you have an interest in working with difficult to engage and vulnerable young people, then this is the post for you.

The role will suit an experienced child and adolescent mental health nurse who is looking to expand their skills in a specialist area. The role includes delivering consultation to colleagues within the youth offending team and wider partners, direct work with young people and representing at panels and working groups across the borough. There is also opportunity to offer assessments and mental health support for young people seen within the service.

You will receive clinical supervision from the Redbridge Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service (EWMHS) Clinical Lead. However, your day to day line management will be provided by the Youth Offending Service.

About us

Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

  • HND/Degree in Mental Health Nursing
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • 3+ years experience in child and adolescent mental health services

Desirable

  • Further professional knowledge will have been gained through accredited courses workshops, study and in-house training programmes (e.g. CYP-IAPT training).
  • 2+ years experience in B6 role or above
  • Mentorship training
