Welcome Payment
This post is eligible for the Trust 'Welcome to NELFT' Payment, a lump sum of 10% of agreed basic salary (pro rata if part time and exclusive of HCAS payments) (subject to a minimum of £4,000 and maximum of £10,000) and is open to all new applicants who are successfully appointed. Payment of the incentive is 50% of the lump sum at the end of the probationary period (typically six months) and then 50% at the end of year two. This welcome package is applicable to external candidates only.
Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for supervision and co-ordination of students and assistants on a daily basis

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).

The post holder will achieve this by providing a high standard speech and language therapy service to clients with a Learning Disability in Waltham Forest.
To perform advanced speech and language therapy assessments of clients with diverse presentations and complex conditions and to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To hold responsibility for his or her own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Clinical supervision takes the form of regular meetings to review, reflect upon casework and the development of the service and identify specific training needs. - To formulate and deliver an individual speech and language therapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills and other alternative options.
- To take delegated responsibility from the Speech and Language Clinical lead for managing service users with particular conditions and be responsible for providing specialist speech and language therapy assessment and treatment plans for service users with these conditions
- To formulate accurate prognosis and recommend the best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans
- To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge, ensuring copies are sent to the service user/carer and involved professionals/ agencies in line with Trust guidance on consent and confidentiality.
- Access service users/carers understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with service users who lack capacity to consent and confidentiality
- To ensure that service users/carers families are involved in decision making and the planning of care plans
- To employ excellent communication and interpersonal skills and use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate complex condition related information effectively to impaired service users and to carers to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes.
