Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) - Mid Essex
Thank you for your interest in the above training position. If successful with your application, you will be offered employment with NELFT on a 2 year fixed term contract, during this time you will undertake an intensive 1 year Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) training programme to become a qualified EMHP. Whilst studying you will apply your knowledge and skills working in one of our already existing Mental Health Support Teams. You will be based in education settings across Essex and be supported to deliver brief cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) informed treatments and support. Main duties of the job
The Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner role will:
- Work closely as part of a team of mental health professionals delivering a wide range of evidence informed interventions, under clinical supervision (e.g., guided self-help, parenting interventions, working through teaching staff)
- Develop and practice evidence-based skills under clinical supervision to work directly with children, young people and families
- Develop and practice evidence-based skills under clinical supervision to carry out holistic and child-centred mental health assessments, including risk assessments
- Learn behavioural and cognitive behavioural guided self-help techniques with which to help children, young people and their families
The Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner is required to:
- Demonstrate the ability to work at university degree level or have an equivalent level of relevant experience, with a proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing or mental health
- Have experience of working with children, young people and their families
- Have experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
- Have experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,192 and a maximum payment of £2,011 per annum pro rata).
