Band 4 - Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainee

This apprentice PWP post is a developmental post within the 'Improving Access to Psychological Therapies' Programme (IAPT).

The post-holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider The University of Essex (2 days per week), as specified within National Low Intensity curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining 3 days of the week, using their newly-developed skills.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work within the IAPT service providing low intensity interventions at Step 2, whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self- management interventions to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The method of delivery may include any of the following: Telephone, video calling, webinars, online digital platforms and face to face therapy. There may be a mix of both individual and group work.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.High Cost Area Supplement - LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).

  • Evidence of Level 2 English and Mathematics or equivalent (GCSE or O-levels)
  • Academic ability to complete the course and clinically demonstrate learning

Desirable

  • A degree, BA or a BSc in any area of study

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in adult mental health services in a paid or formal voluntary role with people wit psychological, interpersonal, health or social problems.
  • Proven track record of working in a service where agreed targets are in place
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care.
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based therapies and how it relates to this post.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
