NELFT provides a wide range of medical clinical roles, these include:
- Inpatient and Community Mental Health Services spanning all age groups.
- Community Paediatrics
- Inpatient and Community Geriatrics
- Community Audio Vestibular, and
- Community Prosthetic Services
Mental Health Services:
Nationally NELFT is at the forefront of Mental Health Acute Care with well-developed Home Treatment Teams and high-quality inpatient care. NELFT prides itself of having the smallest bed base across London, and the second smallest nationally. We are front runners in delivering safe services in the least restrictive way, by having well developed Home Treatment Teams. We currently have no out-of-area patient placements.
Adult and older adult mental health services are provided within our London boroughs, including Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Havering and Barking & Dagenham. There services include patient care, Home Treatment Teams, Early intervention in Psychosis teams, Community Recovery Teams, Liaison services, Perinatal services, Learning Disability services, Eating Disorder services and Personality Disorder services. At the front door of all our services are Access ad Assessment Teams.
Main duties of the job
CAMHS services are provided across all our London boroughs (Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Havering and Barking & Dagenham), Essex and Kent. We are also at the forefront of leading Home Treatment Team service for CAMHS and also deliver integrated Community Services for CAMHS and Paediatrics.
NELFT provides Children's Community Health Services in Essex (Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock), and London. These services are integrated with CAMHS services and are accessed by a Single Point of Referral.
There are 2 main strands from the single point of access, i.e. a CAMHS and a Specialist Community Health Services Pathway. Some Care Pathways overlap both CAMHS and SCS e.g. ASD / ADHD, LAC. Joint Paediatric - CAMHS clinics are established in some boroughs.

NELFT has CAMHS services across Essex known as SET (Southend/Essex/Thurrock) CAMHS and offers a fantastic opportunity for a CAMHS Consultant post in the Eating Disorder, Essex Community CAMHS team, with base in Chelmsford.
The successful candidate will work alongside a peer group of CAMHS Community Consultants covering our 7 CAMHS team localities.
We also offer flexible and part-time working arrangements and a generous relocation package.
The post has competitive 11 PA job description, with the 11th PA to be worked flexibly and subject to annual review with the Associate Medical Director for Essex. The post has a caseload that falls within the recommendations set by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Referrals are both self-referrals or referrals by professionals including GPs, Schools, Social Services and onwards referral from the Child Development Teams.
The successful candidate will be supported by an Acute Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist interest in Eating Disorder, a multidisciplinary team and a dedicated medical secretary.
There is an Essex ISS (Intensive Support Service) team that manages young people in crisis who do not need admission but do require intensive weekly follow up and risk management.
There is also an Essex CAMHS Learning Disability Team with a dedicated LD CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist for young people with severe and complex neurodevelopmental disorder.
