Job summary
An exciting opportunity as arisen for an Apprentice Administratorto join the Barking and Dagenham office. This is a 18 month fixed term contract. We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
Eligibility Criteria:
All applicants must be:
- Aged 16+
- Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education
- You can hold a degree but not in the area of which the Apprenticeship aligns with
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills
What will be achieved
- Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard Level 3 Certificate
- Level 1-2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if no prior exemption)
Main duties of the job
- Communicate effectively with a range of people, either in person or on the telephone, promptly and in a professional and courteous manner whilst recognising barriers to communication.
- Respond to enquiries, and take appropriate action on behalf of the service, either by telephone, personal contact, or correspondence, within agreed time limits.
- Manage and maintain an efficient administrative system on behalf of others.
- Accurately produce reports, correspondence, and manuals from a variety of sources including material from dictation, audio or manuscripts within agreed timescales.
- Work without supervision and ensure urgent situations are addressed swiftly.
- Ensure workload is managed and prioritised appropriately.
- Establish and maintain electronic and manual filing systems.
- Arrange and take minutes at internal meetings.
- Input and manipulate data into computer databases, creating reports from electronic systems.
- Cover other teams/services, where necessary, which may require working on other sites.
- Audits and keeping the integrity of data held within the service.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Trusts policy.
- Maintain good professional standards of behaviour and appearance.
- Maintain patient database and ensure all activity data is collected and submitted by the appropriate date each month.
About us
On an Apprenticeship, the post holder works towards their qualification whilst learning a job role or a variety of roles within a department. Working hours will include a percentage of study time which is agreed with the North East London Foundation Trust Training Provider. The aim of the post holder is to acquire the skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications that are required for them to be able to successfully complete their qualification and subject to the terms of the contract, continue within a substantive position.
