NELFT North East London Foundation Trust

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Behavioural Specialist or a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist to be part of a new initiative within NELFT to support adults with learning disabilities, their families, and/or carers. This is a unique opportunity to implement the mainstreaming agenda for people with learning disabilities. The post-holder will be based within mainstream inpatient wards to provide behavioural and psychological input for adults with learning disabilities who are in crisis, including those who are presenting with behavioural concerns. The post-holder will also liaise with community learning disabilities teams (CLDTS) within NELFT. The CLDT services are integrated with social care and health teams and aim to provide a well-co-ordinated service for adults with learning disabilities to achieve better outcomes for them.
This post would suit someone with a strong interest in multidisciplinary working and working with wider systems including family and carers. The post-holder will be part of a core MDT and be clinically supervised by a lead psychologist from the Community Learning Disability Team. Operational management will be provided by a lead from the mainstream inpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
The role will provide the opportunity to enhance and develop clinical skills in a supportive context together with opportunities for CPD, peer support, service development and research. There will be scope for creativity and development of the post in line with the teams' values of putting service users, carers and co-production at the centre of what we do and working in a trauma informed way.
The psychology department is friendly, supportive and innovative: You would have good access to CPD opportunities across the Trust. We actively support the development of leadership skills and aim to nurture our staff and support them in their development. Members of the wider psychology department have strong links to academic institutions and are engaged in research and teaching on a variety of training courses.
The boroughs covered by NELFT are very diverse and we would actively encourage applicants to apply who represent this diversity.
