Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, to join our friendly Pharmacy Department. This post offers the opportunity to participate in all aspects of hospital pharmacy. You should show initiative, be proactive, and also demonstrate flexibility in your approach. An ability to work effectively as part of a larger team is essential for this position. You will naturally work to a high level of technical competence, in line with departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
Appointment to Band 5 will be subject to holding a GPhC Accredited ACT qualification and a GPhC Accredited Medicines Management qualification.
Successful candidates who do not hold these qualifications will be appointed at Band 4.If appointed at Band 4, you will be provided with the necessary training and support to achieve the relevant qualifications required for the Band 5 position.

Main duties of the job
- Be able to assess the ongoing situation in any section of the department and ensure that workflow is efficient and staff are effectively deployed.
- Observe standard operating procedures (SOPs) in every section of the rotation.
- Apply problem-solving skills to resolve day to day problems.
- Contribute to the development of section/speciality policies and procedures by identifying variations in standards of work practice and implement agreed changes as required.
- Undertake CPD activities and training in all sections and specialities within the Pharmacy Department through the rotation.
- Work proactively to avoid errors, complaints and incidents and to deal with them when required.
- In conjunction with the Chief or Senior Technicians, plan and organise the routine work/rota of the section you are in and co-ordinate/supervise junior members of staff.
