Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiology
The Hillingdon Hospital is offering and exciting opportunity to join our trust Clinical Fellow Programme. This offers an opportunity for those working at a staff grade/registrar level to train in Cardiology.
This is a 12 month fixed term post. The Trust are exploring the opportunity for these post holders to join the North-West London CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) Programme.
The post will include management of patients on both the Virtual Heart Failure and AF pathways and play a key role in the Virtual Ward provision within the Department .
Main duties of the job
Daily activity will include consultant led ward rounds on the Cardiology patients and supervision of the junior team. The post holder will be supported by FY1 and IMT Trainees and will have direct consultant level support.
The post holder will have responsibility for ward inpatients and, as such, will be expected to attend board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. He/she will help supervise the ward juniors, help manage the inpatients and help coordinate their discharge planning. The post holder will participate in audit and governance activities of the ward and help deliver teaching and training to junior colleagues, medical students and physician associates.
The post holder will also support the management of patients in the virtual ward and other associated duties.

- Eligible for full GMC registration and licence to practice
- Competent in basic procedures, physical examination, history taking, infection control
- Able to prioritise clinical need
- Understands current clinical issues in general medicine
- Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help
- Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection
- Understands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practice
- Basic IT skills, i.e. able to handle e-mails and presentations
- Demonstrate leadership, team player, flexibility and organisational skills within a multidisciplinary team

- Demonstrates a critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisition
- Understands the purpose and process of basic professional training
