Job summary
Our friendly, dynamic, and talented Emergency Department Team requires an experienced nurse to join us in providing excellent leadership and developing the expertise of our nursing team.
This rewarding and demanding post requires commitment and motivation to provide quality care for patients from a diverse urban population. The post holder will work alongside the Matron to ensure excellent clinical standards of care are maintained. The post holder will also assist in the development of individual staff through the appraisal process, in alignment with the Trust's core CAREs values.
A passion for emergency care nursing with proven communication skills, good time management skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to be flexible / work under pressure are key qualities required for this role. You will act as a role model for our nursing team and, in addition, will provide professional leadership, motivation, direction, and inspiration to all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder should have demonstrable post-registration experience relevant to emergency care, proven leadership and communication skills, and the ability to initiate and effect change for service improvement.

Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical nursing and managerial expertise in all aspects of the speciality, ensuring the highest possible standard for nursing care and technical equipment care, with efficient utilisation of resources. Also providing clinical nursing expertise in all aspects of the speciality and working independently with patients who will be assessed, treated and discharged or admitted after their episode of unscheduled care.
- To develop and maintain a department philosophy of care based on the Trust's core objectives.
- To lead staff and create positive working relationships within the team whilst monitoring and appraising performance. To work as part of the multidisciplinary team and create positive working relationships within it. Is able to refer patients to the correct speciality teams, where it would be unsafe to discharge them.
- To be responsible for creating a dynamic environment, which is conducive to learning, practice development and research within a framework of evidence based practice.
