The Postholder will be an exceptional leader with in-depth knowledge of governance and assurance mechanisms, operational management experience of nursing in a variety of settings and will inspire confidence and innovation amongst our incredible workforce who together, ensure that service users and staff are safe, cared for and listened too.

The postholder will work collaboratively with the Matrons, doctors, service managers, governance and educational teams to provide seamless pathways of care and ensure a positive safety and team culture.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the wards and clinical departments within the Division of Planned Care and for the development of nursing and clinical practice with particular focus on the implementation of the Trust's Nursing and Midwifery Strategy. As part of the divisional management team, the Divisional Nurse (DN) will work collaboratively with the Divisional Manager (DM), the Director of Midwifery (DoM) and the Divisional Director (DD) to provide assurance to the Executive Team and the Trust Board that robust systems of governance are in place and that high quality patient-led services are delivered. The Divisional Nurse will be the senior clinical manager accountable for the quality and safety of nursing standards and patient experience for the Division, including governance and complaints alongside the governance lead for the divisions. The post-holder will ensure that performance standards are in place to measure both patient safety and the patient experience. The Divisional Nurse will ensure the Division has an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing workforce, deployed in the most efficient and cost-effective way to deliver high quality care to our patients and clients.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
