An opportunity has arisen to appoint a new member of staff to the team in our busy Children's Outpatients Department.
The successful applicant will need to be motivated, calm under pressure and have good organisational abilities and keyboard / computer skills. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
The successful applicant will be involved in reception duties, such as using our computerised booking system to book patients in on arrival and the administration duties associated with preparing notes for clinic.
Experience with children and an ability to adapt to a changing environment are essential.

Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive and quality nursing support and administration services to the children's out patients department, prioritising their workload and liaising closely with other departments to ensure a high standard of care is provided to the children and their families attending the children's out patients department and other children's clinics within the Trust. Ensure that all targets are met in accordance with Trust and National guidance and that data entry within the Trust Patient Management System is up to date and accurate.
Be responsible for all appointments and the running of the outpatient clinics in the absence of a qualified member of nursing staff. Taking phone calls and redirecting the caller to the appropriate member of staff if necessary. Taking on all aspects of the role within the main children's outpatient area and the note preparation area on a rotational basis. Making sure the patients records are filed correctly with all paperwork hole punched and securely inserted into the records.
Following appropriate training and competency assessment perform clinical duties as directed by the nurse in charge such as blood pressure monitoring and phlebotomy for those children and young people attending the outpatient department.
