Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly Discharge Hub as a Band 5 Staff Nurse. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be expected to deliver a high quality of care and support to our patients. We are looking for hardworking, motivated, and caring nurses to join our team. You should be a team player, have good communication skills, and be able to deliver a high quality of care whilst working in line with the Trust's CARES values framework.
As a Staff Nurse, you will be expected to participate in all ward nursing activities and take on delegated team leadership responsibilities in conjunction with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and Ward Manager. You will also be responsible for assessing care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. In addition, you will be also act as a role model to junior staff and teach/supervise newly-qualified and unqualified staff.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure that research based nursing care within the ward is of a high standard and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures. By monitoring patient care, supervising juniors, and evaluating the care that is delivered.
- Maintain individual patient care plans, evaluating and updating them as necessary to ensure that the patient's physical, social and psychological needs are met.
- Ensure that all patients nutritional and personal hygiene needs are met.
- To act as leader during the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and Sister.
- Assist with the organisation of ward resources e.g. formulating off duty rotas, when necessary.
- To plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload in order to meet patient needs.
- Support the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse to maintain and develop ward philosophy and objectives.
- Participate in the induction programme for new staff to the ward, by working alongside them as a competent team member, familiarising them with environment and ward routine.
