Job summary

The post-holder will be part of a new team which we are developing to re-invigorate and develop our acute medical and same day emergency care services. These posts will work across acute internal medicine, with a focus on the acute medical unit, same day emergency care and links with our emergency medicine department. We would welcome candidates who have a specialist interest, particularly Endocrine, Renal or Respiratory with a minimum of 50% time in Acute Medicine and in discussion with service needs.

The post holder will be key to developing and leading changes to our services which we are developing to better support patient flow and education and training opportunities. Bemotivated individuals with strong leadership, education and change skills to join our team at Hillingdon Hospitals. Developing pathways and services that can be brought to our new hospital rebuild, planned to complete in 2025/6.

There is a possibility of additional PAs in discussion with the DD for Unplanned Care. Further subspecialty interests including specialty clinics and service development will also be welcomed and accommodated within the job plan.

The successful applicant will be a committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, quality improvement, teaching and training. It is a requirement of the post that every doctor takes part in annual job planning and annual appraisal as part of the revalidation of cycle.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10 PA post, 8 PA DCC, 2 SPA. SPA includes clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD and mandatory training. Personal CPD must be included as part of annual appraisal which is mandatory and required for the revalidation process.

Post holders will participate in the medical on call (acute take) rota (approximately 1:18).

The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, will provide an effective and comprehensive service in developing the medical SDEC/ ambulatory care services on the ambulatory medical unit, working closely with ED and surgical colleagues. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department.
