Job summary
We now have vacancies for porters to join our friendly and professional facilities team. Our porters play a vital role in the smooth running of the hospital by transporting notes, specimens, equipment, x-rays, beds and patients throughout the hospital seven days a week 24hrs a day.
We are able to offer a variety of permanent shifts:
- Day Porters (Mon- Fri)
- Shift Porters (12 hr shifts 4 days working , four days off, alternating days and nights)
- Part time days weekdays or weekends
- Variety of temporary shifts on our in house bank
We can supply full training but you must:
- Have a friendly personality and be able to communicate well
- Be physically fit
- Be flexible and willing to learn
- Good written and spoken English
You will undertake a range of general portering duties on the site.
Main duties of the job
- To complete all appropriate departmental records and paperwork as required. Typically this will involve work sheets, rotas, mortuary process, vehicle log, incident reports.
- To work safely at all times in line with H&S legislation. Reporting any issues to Chargehand.
- To communicate effectively via a variety of means with all levels of staff, patients and visitors. This may involve giving directions, explanations and making arrangements for movement of goods and services. Face to face contact should be managed professionally.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services.
