Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, patient-focused clinical pharmacist with relevant specialist knowledge and good management and leadership skills. The post-holder will manage the Pharmacy staff resource and service provision and lead in all aspects of medicines optimisation to the critical care and surgical specialist areas across the Trust.
Attention to detail as well as the ability to see the wider picture is called for in this challenging and demanding role. The post-holder will further develop well-established clinical pharmacy services in these areas. This includes opportunities to optimise medicines for patients before surgery, at discharge and during admission when there is a high reliance of clinical pharmacy expertise.
The Pharmacy Department provides a reliable, quality, patient centred service with empathy, enthusiasm and commitment. It prides itself in being forward thinking and keeping pace with changes in medicines optimisation and technology. We are well respected throughout the hospital and have a close working relationship with the clinical teams. We also have a high level of commitment to staff development and actively encourage all staff to share their expertise to enhance the performance of the department.

Main duties of the job
- Main hospital site will be Hillingdon Hospital and to lead, develop and deliver clinical pharmacy service provision for the critical care and surgical speciality.
- To partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken.
- To lead on pharmacy aspects associated with parental nutrition
- Working with other pharmacy staff and the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and economic use of medicines.
- Leadership, management and directorate/service support roles.
- To line manage and support more junior pharmacists in the listed directorates including support for day to day pharmacy operations for the site.
- To take full part in clinical/dispensary rota and bank holidays duties.
