Dental Nurse - Outpatient Dental Service

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to join our Outpatient Dental Service as a Band 5 Dental Nurse. The post holder will be required to maintain a high standard of chair-side care, in keeping with local policies and procedures, and liaise with other members of the team in order to maintain the quality service provided by the department. In addition, the post holder will be expected to organise and run clinics under the direction of the departmental nurse-in-charge.
Our Outpatient Dental Service is a busy and friendly place to work. Our local patient surveys and friends and family tests praise our staff as being caring, professional, and welcoming. Our focus is on providing an exceptional patient experience, delivering excellent customer care to patients and their families. We aim to see patients within 30-minutes of their appointment time and, if this is not possible, clinic staff have to communicate any delays to patients.
Working with us will also offer the opportunity to develop skills in customer care, working within a multidisciplinary team and with a multicultural patient group.

Main duties of the job
- Organise and run clinics under direction of departmental sister.
- Assist surgeons with all minor surgery and any other procedures which may be carried out.
- Receive and prepare patients for treatment.
- Ensure notes, x-rays and other relevant documents are at hand.
- Relay relevant information to surgeon/patient in a clear and precise manner.
- Accurately record all relative information regarding the patient and treatment given and advice on follow-up appointment(s).
- Supervise patient following treatment and impart any information from the surgeon regarding after care of mouth.
- Ensure that all patient activity for each clinic is correctly recorded on the Patient Management System according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Book appointments, changing patient appointments in line with the needs of the patient, where possible.
