Job summary
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit to a key position withing its income, costing and contracting team. A role which will help to ensure the Trust can accurately plan its services and is reimbursed for the excellent care it delivers to its patients.
The finance function itself has embarked on an improvement programme, with the first step being a recent restructure, including investment in additional posts.It's an exciting time to be joining the team as we look to build a best-in-class function in order to provide the best possible financial and decision-making support to operational colleagues
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs two Acute sites that serves a patient population of around 350,000 people. Our main site being the Hillingdon Hospital which provides a full range of Acute services including emergency care, critical care, a comprehensive range of elective and non-elective care and diagnostic imaging services. Our second site, Mount Vernon, provides minor injuries, in and outpatient services as well as day surgeries, alongside being a specialist centre for neurorehabilitation. We are focussed on delivering excellent patient care in the best environment, utilising innovation to ensure the best patient outcomes possible. With an important hospital redevelopment of the main acute site and ambitious plans for the next five years that will focus on our workforce, high quality patient care and a resilient financial plan;
Main duties of the job
This role is key to ensuring financial accuracy for the Trust and has a wide spanning range of stakeholders that you will work with and support. This role will play an important part in ensuring income opportunities for the trust are maximised through:
- Preparation of the monthly flex and freeze Service Line Monitoring files
- Ensure NWL ICB receives activity summaries and patient level data in line with agreed timescales
- Dealing with all queries relating to SLAM submissions
- Ensure correct pricing of all activity at the Trust and supporting the Head of Income, Costing & Contract to make sure contract arrangements align with planning
- Working with operational and clinical stakeholders to provide advice on contracting issues and changes to national guidelines and policies
- Monitoring Commissioner Income against agreed plans.
- Coordinating contracting, finance, information and quality functions to allow for informed decision making and reporting
- Manipulation of large volumes of data to produce accurate contract monitoring reports
The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified accountant or active studier with prior knowledge and understanding of income and contracts in the NHS. Experience in working with and manipulating large data sets using systems such as SQL is also preferred although not essential, but you will need to be a confident data analyst with sound modelling and numerical reasoning skills.
