Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a confident and motivated Dietitian to join our Dietetic and Speech Therapy Team at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be integral to key medical and surgical multi-disciplinary teams. You will cover a range of acute wards utilising artificial nutrition support skills and have an opportunity to take part in a PN training programme. There will also be an opportunity to provide second line cover to other specialist dietitians in areas such as neuro-rehabilitation, colorectal surgery and critical care. The post-holder will form part of the Diabetes MDT and run a specialist Diabetes outpatient clinic every week and deliver regular DAFNE programme. In addition the post-holder will be involved in providing regular training to staff and patients on nutrition related issues.
The Dietetic and Speech Therapy team is committed to continuing professional development, providing monthly coaching conversations and professional development sessions. We encourage staff as part of their annual appraisal to have an active involvement in audit and service improvement projects

Job Purpose:1. To deliver specialised nutrition and dietetic advice to in and outpatients at The Hillingdon Hospital.2. To be able to work independently and manage a significant clinical caseload.3. To be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence based dietetic service to a complex case load within a variety of settings.4. To contribute to policy development on matters relating to nutrition and dietetics.5. To be actively involved in the development and implementation of local guidelines relating to these specialist areas

The Hillingdon Hospital is a busy district general hospital in North West London and has a diverse patient population. It is situated close to Heathrow Airport and Brunel University and within a 10 minute commute by public transport to Uxbridge Town Centre which has excellent transport links to central London. The Trust has on-site accommodation and a crche.
Our friendly team consists of 13 Dietitians, 7 Speech & Language Therapists and 3 administrators.

Main Duties:Clinical:Dietitian Band 6 Generic July 141. To be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive Nutrition & Dietetic service for in and out patients working within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Professional Code of Conduct and the HCPC Professional Standards of Practice.
2. To work autonomously to provide expert nutrition advice and therapeutic support to patients, carers and other health care professionals. This requires collation of highly complex information including:-a. Nutritional assessment, diagnosis and interpretation of biochemistry, haematology, anthropometric data, clinical condition, social & cultural factors and diet history.b. Development of treatment plans which include calculation of nutritionalrequirements, patient centered goals and treatment outcomes.c. Prescription of dietary treatment using ACBS products for conditions adhering to professional/ clinical guidelines3. To take the lead in providing expert dietetic advice to the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in MDT meetings. To liaise with all members of the team to advise on treatment and dietary management for patients with diabetes / gastrointestinal conditions, and their families andcarers.4. To make recommendations to the medical team regarding adaptation ofmedication/nutritional supplements/food for the management of nutrition support patientsbased on interpretation of biochemical parameters and clinical signs.5. To provide clinical leadership in area of specialism by providing a service to more complexclinical cases with support from senior dietitians6. To provide dietetic input on catering issues7. To provide dietetic input to a number of specialist outpatient clinics.8. To ensure safe and timely discharge of patients on home enteral feeding liaising withappropriate internal and external agencies.
