Clinical Teaching Fellow

Job summary

Applications are invited for Clinical Teaching Fellow (SHO equivalent) to meet the teaching and training needs of the Undergraduate Medical Students from Imperial College School of Medicine. This post will be for 8 months, starting December 2022 - 01/08/2023 (with possibility of extension August 2023 - August 2024). The working hours are 0900-1700 or 0800-1600 Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will mainly teach clinical skills and clinical examinations to undergraduate medical students under Dr Stephen Goldring, Director of Clinical Studies and Consultant Paediatrician.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing a robust & comprehensive clinical skills training programme to support all medical students in gaining the skills to become competent in clinical skills & clinical examination as required to deliver high quality patient care.The successful applicant will work in partnership with other Clinical Teaching Fellows and the Undergraduate Manager to deliver the programme and to liaise with senior members of staff across the Trust. Good communication skills, being self-motivated and able to act on your own initiative is essential. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of undergraduate education will be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be jointly responsible, with the simulation team, for the development and delivery of the simulation programme designed to improve patient safety. There are opportunities to do research/publications and audits and also participate in workshops & meetings organised by Imperial College to improve teaching skills and share your expertise with a wide variety of staff.

Therefore, this post is suitable for SHO equivalent doctors who have fulfilled their requirement for basic medical and surgical training and are keen to broaden their experience in teaching and research.
