Job summary

TRAINED CLINICAL CODER- Band 4 (plus 17.5% R&R and HCA) Full-Time 37.5 Hours per week

An exciting opportunity is now available for one Clinical Coder to join the Clinical Coding Department in North London.

The Clinical Coding Department is responsible for the collection of data on diagnosis and procedures for all the inpatient activity. The candidate will be educated to GCSE level or above, will have good background knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Experienced Clinical Coders will be proficient coding using both ICD-10 and OPCS 4. The job requires an enthusiastic, adaptable person with a methodical approach and high attention to detail, able to work following demanding deadlines and timescales. This position includes hybrid working which is subject to change depending on department needs.

The candidate will be committed to continuous training by attending regular workshops and in-house training sessions. The Clinical Coding Department will encourage the preparation and achievement of the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ).

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Coding Department is responsible for abstracting and analysing complex clinical information from patients records and translate this into a coded format in line with National Standards.

To enter the final encoded data onto the appropriate computer systems to meet essential Trust requirements for statutory information and financial flows.

The post holder will work as part of a team of experienced trained staff, the job will involve rotation between duties working on all specialities.
