Job summary
This post is available on a short-term basis to help the Neurology Consultant team manage demands on the service. There is some forthcoming re-organisation of the service which may lead to longer term opportunities to recruit substantively into the team.
The principal role of this post will be to support outpatient services, with some ward cover. There is opportunity for flexible working and for the post-holder to maintain interests outside the trust.
Main duties of the job
GeneralResponsibilitiesasConsultantinNeurology. The following isnot an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties of a consultant. The appointee isexpectedto:
- Deliver day-to-dayclinical care and leadership in Neurology outpatient clinic
- Lead in on-going development of clinical guidelines inNeurologicalmedicine, audit andotherkey aspectsoftheclinical governance agenda.
- Work with consultant colleagues to ensure efficient use of Trust's resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit
- Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks at the request of theclinicalmanager,asthe needarises.
- Activelyparticipateinclinicalguidelines development, auditandCPD.

Essential
- MRCP or Equivalent
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice
- CCST/CCT or equivalent in Neurology and on the specialist register, or within 6 months of CCT date at the time of interview, or evidence of working towards specialist registration via CESR
- Experience of working in Neurology
- Ability to take full and independent responsibiity for clinical care of patients
- Current ALS certification
Desirable
- Post graduate qualification
- Skills, Experience, or qualifications in another specialty
Skills & Abilities
Essential
- Ability to communicate effectivley with staff, patients and relatives
- Evidence of leadership and management experience
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
