Job summary
The post holder is responsible for provision of a high-quality learning experience for undergraduate learners at NMUH. The post holder will also oversee the design, implementation and the upholding of quality mark standards for the multi-professional preceptorship program.
The post holder will work with the work the NMAHP Head of Education, Professional Development and Workforce to deliver key strategic aims and objectives for pre-registration education.
Main duties of the job
Managing student placements and commissioning of programmes, as appropriate
Designing and implementing strategies to meet NMC standards and other professional and educational quality assurance agencies
Representing the Trust and working collaboratively with HEIs and stakeholders
Engaging staff in the recruitment and selection, training and development of students
Active involvement with HEIs in curriculum planning and addressing concerns in practice
Contributing to workforce planning initiatives
Leading a team of Practice Educators and Clinical Tutors

- Lead, implement and monitor student learning in practice in compliance with NMC and HEI standards.
- Establish and maintain support systems enabling staff to keep their student supervision /practice assessor skills updated.
- Lead and co-ordinate trust induction programmes for students to prepare them for practice.
- Provide expert advice on pre-registration curriculum content
- Share changes to curriculum content and processes with relevant colleagues.
- Chair committees/steering groups relevant to undergraduate nursing education.
- Lead continuing evaluation of practice education through formal review processes, e.g. NMC, HEI course boards.
- Develop and implement measures to improve student and practice assessor and practice supervisor support.
- Represent the Trust on student conduct and disciplinary board and practice learning groups.
- Promote inter-professional learning opportunities for all students in collaboration with other disciplines within the trust.
- Liaise with practice-based colleagues and senior nurses on recruitment and appropriate placement of newly qualified nurses, ensuring preceptorship standards are maintained.
