Job summary
IT System Engineer pivotal role within the IT Department to provide expert advice across a range of across a range of informationtechnology areas such as application, training and hardware support.
The role requires a good understanding and application of customer service throughout the lifecycle of requests and be able to adjust workloads to support the clinical teams in giving patient care.
The individual will be expected to work as a team player with in the IT department and the wider trust responding to support issues raised on the ITSM tool and in line with the predefined SLA's and ensure that any knowledge is shared within the team.
Main duties of the job
The core purpose of this role is to provide support to the Trust voice and data network infrastructure. This will include supporting Trust-wide change initiatives. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the delivery of IM&T services in ideally both Hardware and software in a Hospital environment.

Job responsibilities
Provide 2nd-line support to the Trust IT service users for all data communication network, PCs and devices. Provide and receive complex or sensitive information; provide advice, instruction or training to groups. Provides and receives information on IM&T matters which may be complicated; provides training in own area of expertise. Adhere to security measures in respect of IT equipment for the protection of the Trust IT service from hackers, computer viruses and any other such assaults. Analyses situations / information to identify and resolve a range of problems e.g. computer system errors, user, computer or programme problems, network issues, data errors on data repositories, identify and analyse sources of variations, errors in information reports. Required to act independently within appropriate guidelines, deciding when it is necessary to refer to their manager. Adapting to planned work when emergency situations or major incidents require you to do so. Dynamically adjust priorities as/when required to do so by departmental management. Implements IM&T policies for own area, proposes changes to e.g. The use of different equipment/software/web technology, reporting methods, training practices which have an impact on own and other area. Responsible for the installation or repair and maintenance of all IM&T equipment including but not limited to desktop equipment, printers, scanners, mobile devices. Some of these devices are used by clinicians and therefore require a fast response/fix rate in accordance with the Trusts agreed SLAs. Delivery of training on a range of IM&T subjects as required such as use of remote access tokens or other specialist equipment and software and the proper and safe use of IT equipment by users Test IM&T systems including applications and hardware in-line with Trust policies and procedures. Resolution of support requests at the main site and all remote site locations that are under the responsibility of the hospital. Keep ITSM tool up to date and provide comprehensive details of all faults and subsequent actions, sharing of information to other team members where new resolutions to problems have been found. Regular requirement to develop or create reports, documents, drawings, and document procedures as required. Responsible for maintaining user IT accounts and system rights in line with Trust policies. Movement of IT equipment without aids e.g. fixing printers, computers / Frequent requirement to carry / move equipment without aids. Keep IT Asset register up to date with any changes relating IT equipment and Software. To escalate problems to the appropriate third-party suppliers and/or agency, carrying out further diagnostic tests required by them.
