In this post, you will lead on some important and fast-moving work programmes which have genuine impact on local people and their health and lives. From maternity and neonatal care, to A&E, via sexual health services, planned surgery, outpatients, health visiting and school nurses, North Mid provides a wide range of health and care for people in Enfield, Haringey and beyond. We are looking for someone knows their way around the health service and understands why it's so important for patients, staff, and stakeholders to be able to communicate effectively with their busy local provider of acute and community services . However specific NHS experience isn't essential, and we're open to you demonstrating how your skills fit the needs of North Mid.
This role provides line management to one post, and encompasses a mixture of strategic, tactical and hands-on communications work, across all disciplines from stakeholder engagement to social media.

Main duties of the job
As deputy to the head of communications, engagement and fundraising, and with a full portfolio in their own right, the postholder will be responsible for building and promoting a positive reputation for the Trust through the expert tactical deployment and continuous improvement of all Trust-related day-to-day communications activity. The postholder will play a key role in delivering the Trust's overall communications and engagement strategy, among primarily external audiences.
The postholder will be the Trust's lead on proactive relationship management with external stakeholders, including communication partnerships within the north central London ICS, and the emerging provider alliance, and will lead on our engagement with these emerging bodies on a range of often sensitive, complex, confidential and sometimes contentious issues.

- Support the head of communications, engagement and fundraising, and other senior managers, by leading delivery of a high quality external communications and stakeholder relations service for the
- Build and promote positive relationships with the media, staff and key stakeholders through proactive and reactive digital communications, speaking on behalf of and representing senior personnel (including the CEO) when necessary. This may include identifying potentially hostile situations and working to ensure a positive environment for all involved.
- Engage staff across the Trust and key stakeholders to develop a pipeline of positive stories which help the Trust to maintain and build upon its reputation and deliver its objectives.
- Lead on developing and delivering a strategic plan of often complex communication and engagement opportunities, events, risks, and mitigations, set out in a forward-looking grid covering both short- and long-term (at least 12 months) activity, which supports ongoing delivery of the Trusts communications and engagement strategy and organisational narrative. This will include being responsible for advising senior personnel on any changes or updates to the strategic plan and the postholder will need to have a flexible approach.
- Lead on digital communications for the Trust, and develop and deliver relevant tactical communications and engagement plans to support sustainable delivery of the Trusts forward-planning grid
- Monitor and review Trust media and social media coverage, checking for inaccuracies and using highly-developed judgement and analytical skills, sometimes on highly complex or contentious topics, and provide expert advice to senior personnel on next steps, taking into account all options and then co-ordinating responses where
- Work flexibly with the communications team, internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Trust communications are resilient and the communications team are responsive to changing demands on the
- Oversee compliance of communication materials across range of channels with accessible design principles, NHS identity requirements and local branding
