Job summary

Due to the promotion of the current post holder we are looking for an exceptional nurse or AHP leader to join us as Divisional Director of Nursing/AHPs and Quality for our Medicine and Urgent Care Division.

The seniority of the post reflects our commitment to the nursing and AHP leadership and voice in the division, high professional standards and a drive for quality governance and continuous improvement. You will work in an equal triumvirate with the Divisional Director of Operations and Divisional Clinical Director as well as being a key member of the North Mid senior nursing/AHP team.

As one of the Trust’s most senior nurses or AHPs you will also take some corporate responsibility as part of your portfolio. We therefore see this as an ideal opportunity for a candidate who is keen to then progress their career to executive level and will support the successful candidates through leadership development.

Main duties of the job

Duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to;

  • Ensure that all aspects of performance are appropriately monitored and managed within the Division through an accountability framework.
  • Be responsible for the efficient and effective use of division resources, for the effective management of Nursing / Midwifery / Allied Health Professional clinical budgets, balancing quality services and cost efficiency. Developing income opportunities wherever possible and for ensuring that robust financial management systems are in place to support this, devolving budgetary management as appropriate within the division.
  • Be responsible for regular skill mix review of the nursing/midwifery/AHP workforce ensuring the introduction of creative new roles where appropriate and that staff are facilitated to work at the top of their licence.
  • Development of clinical policies and service plans in conjunction with the Divisional Director and Clinical Directors/Leads to ensure that the division achieves compliance with statutory regulations e.g. EWTD and to ensure that the division complies with all Trust policies and procedures and to contribute to their formulation as appropriate.
  • Manage Human Resource issues including disciplinary and grievance procedures, pay, locum arrangements, recruitment, retention, personal and professional development of all Nursing / Midwifery / Allied Health Professional staff.
