Job summary

The cancer and complex joints unit at RNOH are looking for an enthusiastic deputy service manager for a 1 year fixed term contract/ secondment due to maternity leave.

The post holder, working closely with the Service Manager, will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of patient care within their Service.

The post holder will be expected to identify and implement initiatives to improve services, with delegated responsibility from the Service Manager, and lead designated projects to ensure key performance targets (financial, operational and clinical) are met.

The post holder will work closely with clinical and nursing leads to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered within clinical directorates, in line with the Trust policy and standard operating procedures.

Main duties of the job

o Working closely with clinicians in order to achieve optimal decisions for overall patient careo Delivering care which is focused on patients and working with patients as partners in the delivery of excellent patient careo In the interests of patient care, supporting the principle of treatment as close to the patient's home as possibleo Ensuring that the decisions taken are fully informed and properly balanced, taking account of collective as well as individual need, and the requirement to live within available resourceso Genuinely promoting and supporting the delivery of national and local healthcare targets as one of the ways of raising healthcare standards for all

o Ensuring quality of services to patients, visitors and staffo Maximising operational and performance management standardso Optimising resource managemento To act as Patient Pathway Manager for the designated teams in the Unit.o To deputise for the Service Manager as appropriate
