Job summary
The Estates Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive working Team leader with demonstrable experience in the operation and maintenance of engineering services. The post holder will supervise the engineering team ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of all buildings, plant and associated services in an efficient, economical and safe manner in accordance with all statutory, NHS Trust and departmental guidelines.
This role will provide a 'Front of House' service and requires excellent communication skills liaising directly with clinical and non-clinical service users. The post holder will be expected to lead by example and set the standard for the estates front of house team and have a strongly held commitment to delivering a professional estate service.
The successful applicant must have widespread knowledge and experience of repair and maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with good practice guides, relevant statutory legislation, codes of practice, preferably gained in a healthcare environment. In addition, the candidate should also have sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical services.
The candidate must be pro-active, dynamic and enthusiastic with a flexible approach to working and willing to undertake additional training. The successful candidate will be required to work shift patterns on a rotational basis. i.e. 0800 -1600 hours, 12.00- 20.00 hours and weekend coverage as and when require.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will play a key role in providing a comprehensive maintenance, repair, minor works service which will significantly contribute to the provision of excellent patient care by being directly responsible for the management/the activities of any combination of directly employed staff. Provide technical support to the Estates Department multi-skilled and core skilled staff, contractors and other employed persons in the completion of Estates maintenance and development works. Lead and monitor a multidisciplinary team providing a comprehensive engineering, electrical and building service to all wards and departments, ensuring compliance with the Trust safety standards and procedures.
