Job summary
The post holder will be managed by the Clinical Specialist Manager and accountable to the Clinical Director of Therapy Services. Clinical supervision will be provided by the Professional Lead and Senior Dietitians.
To assess, manage and provide specialist nutrition advice for patients, their carers and HCP's through formulation of treatment and education plans and prescription of dietary intervention.
To participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nutrition service and be active in the development of protocols, guidelines, policies, integrated care pathways, clinical research trials and audit tools.
To participate in a range of nutrition projects involving nutritional screening for inpatients and pre-assessment clinics, improved access to dietetic services and enhanced recovery protocols.
To participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of a seamless nutrition support service that is aimed at continuously improving standards of patient care and facilitate multi professional working
Main duties of the job
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 General Orthopaedic Dietitian to join our dietetic team to develop nutrition services and promote excellence in nutritional care across the Trust. It is a fantastic new post allowing a unique opportunity to develop knowledge and skills across a wide range of areas including pre and post-orthopaedic surgery, cancer care, amputation, wound management, spinal cord injury, and malnourishment. The post holder will form valuable therapeutic relationships with our long-stay patients with an important role in their care from pre-admission to discharge. The role includes leadership, patient and staff education, and service development. There are opportunities to gain experience in other areas such as research and paediatric nutrition in a supportive environment, opening avenues in future career progression.
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is a renowned, elective centre for musculoskeletal, spinal and metabolic conditions and is undergoing a major rebuild.
