Job summary
- As directed by the Estates Manager the post holder will be responsible for the integrity of the Mechanical, Electrical, Building Fabric, infrastructure and for providing specialist technical advice to the day-to-day management of the Trust's buildings with regard to breakdowns, planned preventative maintenance and projects whilst providing expert advice on all aspects of Estates Specialist Services.
- An Engineering Manager will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skills. They will, however, progressively be suitably trained to acquire elements of other skills with the intension of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability, where required to perform the following:-
- To provide safe and efficient day to day operational management of the Trust's engineering systems.
- To ensure the Estates service meets statutory requirements at all times and is responsive to the client's requirements.
- The role will require the post holder to participate in an on-call rota for the Estates Department, to undertake the organisation and supervision of any work necessary out of normal working hours, the following duties are included:
- Attend site out of normal working hours as necessary
- Be prepared to be available within reason to work at short notice, out of normal working hours, in emergency situations
The job holder will be required to work at both the Stanmore and its Central London Facility
Main duties of the job
- To take the lead responsibility for operation and management of the Engineering systems
- To lead on the interpretation of electrical and mechanical test results and the subsequent corrective actions, Engineering drawings/schematics and the use and understanding of CAD
- Develop , prepare various management reports on Engineering services, risk, performance as and when required.
- Acting as 'Authorised Person' for Electrical (HV , LV (desirable)), MGPS, HVAC (Desirable), Lifts. Maintaining strict records of Electrical & Mechanical systems to meet operational and statutory requirements.
- When assigned lead on the design and tender approved schemes.
- Develop and maintain emergency / contingency plans to maintain critical systems .
- With the Estates Manager, manage the responsive breakdown, PPM service, ensuring continual development and updating of the system to maintain cost effective procedures for all the Trust's assets and buildings.
- To ensure that Estates delegated budgets are not exceeded and opportunities are fully explored to reduce estates costs
- Responsible for management of Trusts water hygiene to include reporting on legionella and Pseudomonas management to the water safety committee and will be appointed as the Trusts 'Responsible Person'.
- Works with the other Estates & Facilities Senior Managers to ensure the delivery of the trust sustainability programme to meet the target of net zero carbon by 2050.
