The orthopaedic oncology therapy team provide specialist rehabilitation to adults with peripheral and spinal sarcomas and other oncological diagnoses such as metastatic spinal cord compression.
The therapy team assess and manage patients during the pre-assessment stage, acute post-operative inpatient stay through to outpatients and rehabilitation admissions.
Main duties of the job
You will be the lead Occupational Therapist for the Orthopaedic Oncology service with the opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills.
You will benefit from a multi professional structure of clinical specialists, peer support and supervision within the therapy department.
You will provide supervision and line management to a Band 6 Occupational Therapist and a Band 5 rotational Occupational Therapist in the Orthopaedic Oncology service.
About us
You will work alongside a Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the Adult Orthopaedic Team as well as a Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the Amputee rehabilitation team. You will be supported by the Team Lead, Orthopaedic Oncology Service. as well as Band 8A Inpatients Lead Occupational Therapist.

- DipCOT/ Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists or recognised equivalent
- Registered with Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD maintained portfolio
- Recent post graduate courses in relevant specialist area
- Attended courses related to staff supervision/development
Desirable
- Successful completion of recognised post-registration clinical course and / or training in specialist field such as OT with cancer patients
- Leadership Course

- Minimum 5 years post graduate experience
- A broad range of rotations as a Band 5/6 including physical rehabilitation
- 1 years NHS experience at Band 6 level
- Attained a high level of clinical competence in your specialist area

- Experience of leading audit in specialist area and demonstrates a sound understanding of quality issues
