There is a large cohort of paediatric patients including those who have undergone amputation at RNOH due to sarcoma. The PRU is committed to training London based Rehabilitation Medicine Specialists in addition to supporting and running the annual Advanced Amputee Rehabilitation Course under the umbrella of the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine. PRU medical consultants have always been instrumental in organising and running this course in addition to taking an active role in the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics to promote the development of the speciality. Many specialist trainees from outside the London training program and also from other specialities have chosen to spend part of their training at the PRU to benefit from the unique skills mix and high quality one to one teaching on rare or complex topics rarely seen at standard centres.

About us

The PRU service has 1 other consultant (8PA) and 1 non medical AHP consultant along with physios, occupational therapists, psychologist, prosthetists and technicians. The manufacturing is provided by a 3rd part company based on site at Stanmore. The post holder will be part of this team but also will have an opportunity to lead this team as the service looks to stay on top of latest advances in rehabilitation.

This role is very much one with MDT working. Close links with therapy teams, pre-admission, complex case team and discharge teams are already established and highly valued.
