We are looking to appoint one post-CCT Clinical Fellows in Paediatric orthopaedics. Based on The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, this fellowship provides an excellent higher training opportunity in all aspects of Paediatric orthopaedics:
. 6 Month post at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital, commencing July 2023
The successful applicant will experience the full range of paediatric orthopaedic surgery with excellent opportunities for clinical and professional development.
This post does not attract an NTN, but is suitable for a candidate who has passed the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent, and is looking for subspecialty experience in Paediatric Orthopaedics. Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice prior to the start of employment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will experience the full range of paediatric orthopaedic surgery. The placements provide excellent opportunities for clinical and professional development. Clinical work will include experience in regular theatre lists, clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings. There are regular departmental teaching sessions, research meetings and engagement in clinical audit.
This role requires a motivated and interested post CCT surgeon with some experience in paediatric orthopaedics wanting to improve their experience, practical skills and decision making in preparation for starting a role as a consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeon.
About us
RNOH Paediatric and Limb Reconstruction Unit
The Paediatric and Limb Reconstruction Unit provides a regional referral service for paediatric and adult congenital and acquired deformity, the sequelae of traumatic injuries and bone infection. Within the unit there are three consultants specialising in Limb Reconstruction and junior and ancillary staff to support the service. The Unit is one of the largest in Europe in lengthening nail surgery and has an excellent clinical and academic record. Within the RNOH the unit closely collaborates with the Paediatric Unit and the London Sarcoma Service. A multidisciplinary approach is provided through regular meetings. The unit has established systems for data collection and is a pioneer in research in the field with excellent links with the University of London's Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Sciences.
