Job summary

Applications are invited for an Oncology Kidney Cancer Clinical Nurse specialist (CNS) to join our well-established nursing team. Due to the expansion of the service this fulltime position has become available for a dynamic & motivated CNS to join the team to deliver specialist kidney cancer nursing to patients under the care of the specialist kidney cancer centre. The appointees will play a key role in delivering world class care for patients with metastatic kidney cancer. Working with the existing clinical team to provide excellent clinical care and education.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated individual with an interest in Oncology kidney Cancer Nursing. You will have a strong clinical background in Oncology or urology nursing; experience of working with cancer patients would be desirable. You will work closely with the Lead Nurse for Renal Cancer and the very experienced CNS team who will support you to deliver expert nursing care. You will lead with high visibility and possess a natural personal resilience to promote a positive work culture for high staff engagement and performance. Main duties of the job

This role is to facilitate the provision of high-quality specialist nursing care to patients with kidney cancers and benign disease throughout the patient's surgical pathway. The role will include the provision of advice, counselling and supportive care to patients and their families. The primary focus is to ensure patients are fully diagnosed counselled regarding treatment and to delivery ongoing care following treatment for localised disease., in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary teams in acute care and in close liaison with the Primary Care providers.

The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to kidney cancer as part of the specialist kidney cancer service. In addition, the post holder will be required to liaise with their peers across the Trust, the directorate management team and appropriate corporate directorates and teams. The post holder will be expected to liaise with colleagues external to the Trust and London Cancer.

The RFL Specialist Centre for Kidney Cancer was formally commissioned in July 2019. The Specialist Centre for Kidney Cancer is located at the Royal Free Hospital and serves the population of North Central and North-East London as well as taking referrals from Wales. It is currently the largest surgical centre for kidney cancer in Europe. We are seeking to recruit an exceptional individual with vision and passion to support the development of the oncology nursing service. This is a full tile contract and ideal for an existing CNS to move to a new speciality or a nurse wishing to develop their experience as an oncology clinical nurse specialist.
