Job summary
We are very pleased to offer the substantive appointment of a Consultant Physician, with a special interest in Medicine, at the Elderly at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
This position will be based at Barnet General Hospital. If appointed you will join a committed team of consultants, in our well-developed and respected service. We also pride ourselves on our supportive and forward-thinking culture.
Main duties of the job
If appointed you would alternate between the various services we offer, be it running a large acute geriatrics ward, or providing 'front door services' - in the well-developed Adult Assessment Unit (AAU).
When working in the AAU, you would become part of a team involved in running the fast turnaround bed base in the unit, and also in providing an adjoining same day/same week hot clinic.
If successful you may also partake in the provision of a frailty in-reach service, supporting patients in the emergency department (ED).
You would also play a role in running the virtual ward service, a very exciting and expanding development for patients at our hospital.
You would be on the acute integrated medical on-call rota, supporting weekend and out of hours provision.
This is an exciting time to join the Barnet Hospital team. We have a strong focus on updating and improving our model of care - (to meet the needs of an aging population) & we have a well-developed suite of quality improvement programmes underway, to drive improvement of outcomes and patient experience.
