Job summary
We are looking for someone who has the motivation, drive and commitment to help deliver an outstanding endoscopy service. You will have a proven record of experience and achievement within this field of nursing. You will work as a professional role model, demonstrating flexibility, excellent communication skills and an ability to work as a team leader whilst retaining a key leadership role as a senior nurse within the divisional management teams. There is also an expectation to engage in teaching, training and research activities within the department, including JAG courses.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the speciality.
To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct patient care.
To take the lead on delegated responsibilities as defined by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
To support the /Senior Sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients.
In the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ward.
To manage a delegated group of Band 5 and Band 3 staff ensuring compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements.
To lead the team of nurses in the endoscopy procedure room.
To help with training of junior staff and maintaining their competencies.
To help in audits and documentation of data necessary in maintaining the JAG accreditation status.
To ensure a positive focussed service incorporating patients' feedback to maintain and improve patient care.
To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.
