Staff Nurse band 5- Elective Surgery

Are you a nurse looking to work within a friendly team. A 10 month secondment for a nurse who is interested in developing skills and experience within the speciality of surgery, then we would love to hear from you. If you join us you will have the opportunity to develop skills and experience in:

You will work as a part of the Multidisciplinary Team with additional support from our Clinical Practice Educator, and Nurse Specialists. There are many learning opportunities available including wound and pain management, health promotion, patient education, attending pre- operative teaching and pre-assessment clinic, pre-operative care, intra operative observation and discharge planning. Surgical nursing is highly rewarding and will provide you with plenty of scope to develop further specialist skills and roles.

Main duties of the job

  • Post-operative care for patients following: Gynaecology, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, ENT, and maxillofacial surgeries.
  • Post -operative care of orthopaedic patients includes: joint replacement, spinal surgery, and upper and lower limb surgery.
  • Work alongside members of the multi-disciplinary team to rehabilitate patients following surgery and planning their discharge home.
  • Rotation to ESCU (Enhanced Surgical Care Unit) and PACU (Post Anaesthetic Care Unit) to develop skills and knowledge.
