Job summary

o Provide clinical and managerial leadership in the midwifery defined area or teamo Co-ordinate the team to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal services towomen within clinical area/geographical boundaryo Provide skilled clinical advice and professional leadership to the midwiferyteam/defined area, liaising with the multidisciplinary teamoWorking with line managers, act as a key player in leading change in practice,providing high quality maternity care within the available resourceso Carry out risk assessments in the hospital, birth centres and community settings andsafely manage obstetric and neonatal emergencies including emergency situationswhen medical help is not available.o Lead on the management of sickness absence and team performance within ownarea/defined team.o Be responsible for leading cohesive working and communication practices amongstown team and wider multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our senior midwifery team at the Royal Free London Trust as a band 7 on the labour ward.

The successful candidate will be placed on the Royal Free site Hampstead Site.

The successful candidate will work as a senior midwife/ labour ward coordinator and act as the bleep holder in the absence of the matron.

The post holder needs to be a clinically sound, experienced midwife with excellent communication skills to lead and support midwives to realise their full potential as autonomous practitioners placing women and their families at the centre of care planning.

  • Previous experience working as a midwife/Band 6. Previous experience working in a community setting.
