JOB SUMMARY

Context

Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow to support clinical research and the clinical service within the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) Imaging department and National Amyloidosis Centre (NAC) at the Royal Free Hospital. The post is suitable for a clinical trainee with a cardiology background who wishes to gain experience in the clinical condition, cardiac imaging, and clinical and translational research. There will scope for maintaining clinical work with sessions in CMR and weekly amyloidosis clinics. The Centre maintains a longstanding high profile clinical and basic science research programme and serves as the national referral centre for patients with amyloidosis and inherited periodic fever (auto-inflammatory) syndromes. http://www.ucl.ac.uk/medicine/amyloidosis.

Main duties of the job

Main purpose of the jobAmyloidosis is a multi-system disease that encompasses many specialties. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the clinical services within the Centre (NAC and Cardiac MRI Department) and will contribute to the centre's clinical research program. The post holder will have ample opportunity to join/develop research relevant to their interests including areas of existing research such as cardiac imaging (echocardiography, MRI, CPET), proteomics, genetics, and clinical trials in amyloidosis. This will be under the guidance and supervision of senior academic staff. The position is available for 3 years from 1st May 2025 and the postholder is encouraged to register for a PhD at UCL as part of the role, with annual registration fees to be funded by the Centre.

If the successful candidate is a specialty registrar with a National Training Number (NTN) they should apply prospectively to the JRCPTB to discuss any educational or clinical credit which may be achieved from the post.
