Job summary

The Consultant Diagnostic Interventional Radiologist role at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust focuses on Interventional Radiology and Hepatobiliary Imaging. The position involves 10 Programmed Activities per week, supporting hepatobiliary and interventional services and contributing to general radiology tasks. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to meet performance KPIs and clinical outcomes, participate in an interventional on-call rota at the Hampstead site, and provide clinical advice to referring clinicians.

The clinical duties of the post will include supporting all aspects of the RFL gynaecological imaging service as well as contributing to the general workload of the department. The role will include working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the services in line with performance KPIs and clinical outcome metrics. The job requires the post holder to be able to work under pressure and to be flexible and adaptive to the needs of the patient and the service. A sub-speciality interest in Gynaecological Imaging is essential. A second sub-speciality interest will be supported if service allows.

Main duties of the job

  • Support all aspects of the RFL hepatobiliary and interventional service.
  • Contribute to the general workload of the radiology department.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver services in line with performance KPIs and clinical outcome metrics.
  • Participate in an interventional on-call rota at the Hampstead site (currently 1:8 frequency).
  • Provide professional clinical advice to referring clinicians and hospital management.
  • Lead and present at HPB/Oncology MDTs independently.
  • Supervise junior trainees and participate in their training and education.
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities and clinical audit.
  • Support infection prevention & control and antimicrobial stewardship activities.
