Senior Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology

This is a fixed term post and has been designed to provide the experience and education necessary to allow Doctors to progress in Gastroenterology.
Main duties of the job
A full time Senior Clinical Fellow position in Gastroenterology at the Royal Free Hospital, with a subspecialist focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The successful candidate will play an important role within the IBD team - participating in specialist IBD clinics, being able to develop endoscopy skills on dedicated IBD lists, and actively contributing to the delivery of world class basic and translational IBD research. This role not only offers a platform for professional growth, but also the chance to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of patients with complex IBD. The ideal candidate should be hard-working, enthusiastic, adept at working independently as well as within a wider team, keen to develop skills in IBD management and research, and ideally be independent in upper and lower GI endoscopy.

- CLINICALRESPONSIBILITIES
- Participation in gastroenterology outpatient clinics, with a specialist focus on IBD including general and acute IBD clinics.
- Attendance at weekly IBD MDTs and virtual biologic clinics.
- Provision of support to the IBD clinical nurse specialist team and IBD specialist pharmacists for complex cases.
- Opportunities to participate in clinical aspects of basic and translational IBD research working closely with leading IBD researchers on a range of research studies.
- Opportunities for supervised endoscopy lists, focusing on IBD cases but also including emergency cases where appropriate. Access to a certified endoscopy simulator course at RFH, where necessary.
- May be required to cross-cover endoscopy and clinics in exceptional situations
- No on-call requirement.
