An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us in our busy Paediatric Emergency Department Royal Free, as a Paediatric Emergency Department Assistant in a newly created role as we expand the team. As a member of Royal Free Paediatric Emergency Department team the Paediatric EDA will act under the supervision of the Paediatric Registered Nurse. The role will involve working in conjunction with professionally qualified staff, undertaking delegated care and treatment of patients attending the department.
You will be assisting in providing emergency care to children and young persons with the knowledge and skills of providing play and distractions, and adjusting the care according to the Child or Young Persons' needs.

Main duties of the job
In summary:
- To work as a Paediatric Emergency Department Assistant within a high pressured, fast moving environment
- To prioritise and deliver care to patients
- To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practise within the delivery of patient care in the Paediatric Emergency Department
- To ensure patients' safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times
- Assist in age-related play and distraction therapy
- To support Registered Nurses and other Healthcare Workers/Professionals of the Paediatric Emergency Department
- To undertake such duties as determined by the Department Managers and Matron including working within the main department during times of surge.
