Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 01 October 2024

Job summary

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Specialty Doctor in Virology to join our dynamic and supportive team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a doctor with a strong interest in clinical virology to work in a leading NHS trust, contributing significantly to the diagnosis, management, and prevention of viral infections. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and support the development and delivery of virology services across the trust.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities will include active participation in clinical services such as virology test authorisation, managing complex clinical inquiries, and providing expert advice on clinical management, infection prevention, and control. The role also involves participation in multi-disciplinary meetings and collaboration with consultants and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.

The successful applicant will also participate in the Royal Free Hospital Virology out-of-hours on-call rota at a frequency of 1 in 4, ensuring robust and responsive virology support across the Trust. There will be opportunities to contribute to the development and enhancement of virology services, including involvement in quality improvement projects, service audits, and the support of training and education within the department, such as mentoring junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.

About us

Our trust has around 10,000 staff serving 1.6 million patients. It comprises Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and more than 30 services in the community. This larger scale organisation provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to continue our pioneering work, particularly in finding ways to deliver even better care to our patients.

Our mission is to deliver world class care and expertise in our clinical services, underpinned by world class teaching and research and we will continue to measure our progress against our five governing objectives: excellent outcomes, excellent patient and staff experience, excellent value for taxpayers' money, being safe and meeting our external duties, and building a strong organisation.

Everyone is welcome at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
