Job summary
The Haematology team at the Barnet and Chase Farm Site is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to cover a maternity leave. This is a job share post for a period of 1 year working from Monday to Wednesday each week. ( 22.5 hrs a week )
The role involves close collaboration with the Consultant Haematologists and applicants should have the ability to work autonomously, have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and be motivated and enthusiastic.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required:
To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries.
To undertake haematology nurse led clinics and to be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics.
To carry out bone marrow testing procedures and develop advanced practice.
To work autonomously to deliver specialist haematology clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patients group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.
To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for patients with haematological conditions.
To contribute to training and education within haematology specialist areas such as outpatient clinics and the haematology day unit.
To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in audits.
To act as a visible haematology role model and expert practitioner
