Job summary

Applications are invited for 2 part-time Consultant posts in Palliative Medicine based at North London Hospice and Barnet Hospital and employed by Royal Free London Hospitals NHS Trust.

These are newly configured posts designed from existing sessions. The post-holders will provide medical support to the Specialist Palliative Care Service at Barnet Hospital, and to the Barnet & Enfield Community Service of North London hospice.

The posts provide managerial leadership with opportunities for strategic planning, educational supervision, and designated time for audit, CPD and revalidation. There will also be the opportunity to develop services embracing new working models.

The successful applicants will be fully registered members of the General Medical Council with current license to practice and will be on the Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of the interview.

Main duties of the job

This is a split site post is aimed at integrating services at Barnet Hospital, part of the Royal Free NHS Trust, and North London Hospice Community services. The aim is to support integration of services and transition of care in both settings.

The post holder will be based with the community team at North London Hospice (NLH) in Enfield and at Barnet Hospital as part of the Hospital Specialist Palliative Care Service. In addition to providing medical support to the hospital service at Barnet there will be an opportunity to develop the service provided to the ED and ICU teams.

The post holder will also work with the medical team across the other services provided by North London Hospice and take part in the on call service,
