Job summary
The post holder will be clinically responsible for the highly specialised and advanced neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention for high-risk infants including providing specialist information to doctors, nurses, and the wider therapy team about their care and needs. This role includes a neurodevelopmental follow up clinic at UCLH. The post holder will provide a service to the RFH NNU and be responsible for assessing all babies born into the 'high risk' category. This includes all babies in the sector born at < 30 weeks gestation, all those <1000g, term infants with HIE who have been cooled, any infant needing an MRI for neurological or developmental purposes, those with seizures and any other infants referred in to the neurodevelopmental follow up programme. The post holder will provide neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral assessments at term, 3, 6 , 12 and 24 months and provide reports and recommendations as well as working closely with parents and physiotherapy to provide early intervention where appropriate. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the neurobehavioral, developmental and neurological assessment of all high risk infants in the RFH NNU and after discharge.
The post holder must be able to administer the Brazelton NBO/NBAS, the GMA and the Bayley III.
The post holder will help identify for the paediatricians which infants should attend the neurodevelopmental baby clinic for further investigations and tests following concerns about their development.
The post holder will be responsible for the smooth running and attend the neurodevelopmental baby clinic and provide standardised developmental and neurological assessments with scores which will contribute towards diagnosis and onward management including screening and referral to CDT.
The post holder will also identify which infants require intervention and from whom and ensure referrals are made appropriately.
