Clinical Fellow in Medical Education and Research (Infection)

Job summary

This exciting, innovative, and successful post has been established to develop the career of a clinician who has completed internal medicine/core medical training with an interest in medical education and clinical research within infectious diseases, microbiology, and virology.Working closely with clinical teams, the post holder's main duty is to coordinate, participate, and further develop the established UCL Medical School (UCLMS) undergraduate clinical teaching programme in the Department for Infection within the divisions of Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, and Virology (50% time). It is anticipated that the post holder will wish to study for a Certificate in Medical Education and the postholder will be given departmental funding support to do this. The post holder will also be expected to obtain Good Clinical Practice certificate and to recruit and consent patients to ongoing clinical trials within the department under consultant supervision. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the registrar on call rota within infectious diseases and microbiology. The post is based at the Royal Free, Hampstead, London, is full time, and is available for 12 months from 1stAugust 2024. The first 6 months will be spent as the education and research fellow, and during the second 6 months (fromFeb 2025) there may be the opportunity to switch role to clinical fellow in infectious diseases and microbiology to gain experience in these areas.Further information regarding this post may be obtained from Professor Alison Rodger, Professor of Infectious Diseases (alison.rodger@ucl.ac.uk) or Dr Indran Balakrishnanindran.balakrishnan@nhs.net
