Job summary
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust are seeking to jointly appoint a Head of Learning and Development (L&D) to provide joint leadership of both our L&D teams. This is an innovative role which has a large element of change management and reflects the increasing partnership working between our two trusts. The role is designed to provide day-to-day operational leadership of both L&D teams, while leading a transformational programme of work to form one combined integrated function, building on the existing strengths that each team brings.
Main duties of the job
- Provide operational leadership of both L&D teams:
- Corporate induction and on-boarding of new joiners
- Provision of Mandatory and Statutory Training (MaST), both e-learning and face-to-face, and of MaST support to staff
- Maintenance and administration of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Management of learning centres
- Administration of study leave
- E-learning development and support to the use of learning technologies
- Management of library and knowledge services (NMUH only)
- Lead a transformational programme of work to form one combined integrated team
Lead a programme of change to create one integrated team:
- Common approach and content for corporate induction and on-boarding of staff, integrated with the NCL shared recruitment service
- Common approach and content for MaST (streamlining and removing unwarranted variation), working with subject matter experts
- Assess options for a common learning management system (LMS) and lead programme of implementation, working with IT services and Workforce Information teams
- Expansion and common approach to use of e-learning and other learning technologies
- Common approach to management of learning centres, standardising the support to users across centres
- Options for joining library and knowledge services across sites into an integrated model, working with library colleagues
- Long-term capacity and capability requirements for the team to reflect the agreed integrated working model
