Job summary

The Clinical Audit Manager will be responsible for managing the timely and accurate input of data, which includes; clinical, demographic and case mix data on a daily basis. Job description

Job responsibilities

The Clinical Audit Manager will be responsible for managing the timely and accurate input of data, which includes; clinical, demographic and case mix data on a daily basis. This includes refused admissions and transfers of patients using the Medicus (4D) programme, which collects the ICNARC national data set. Facilitating senior intensive care team (medical/nursing) with audit & research as and when required.

To be an expert advisor and first point of call for IT software issues to the multidisciplinary Intensive care team.

Report and Interpret Critical Care Minimal Dataset (CCMDS) to enable prompt coding and payment by results.

Liaise closely with Trusts patient administration system (PAS), Cerner, Private Practice and IT managers to maintain efficient information flow to and from clinical and clerical staff.

Supervise entry of patient data onto the Medicus and other Trust approved systems in a timely and accurate manner. Create regular audit reports and updates.

  • Liaise with nursing and medical staff to ensure accuracy of clinical data entry.
  • Prepare regular clean dataset for export to ICNARC and liaise closely with them.
  • Attend regular meetings with ICNARC as part of CPD and maintenance of the high profile of the trust within that organization.
  • Provide business support for Critical Care services within the trust, including provision of statistics, analysis of activity and participation in service reviews.
  • Work closely with Outreach Team (PART) assisting and supporting their audit collection.
  • Assist with the entry of data regarding service records and critical incidents onto the inventory database.
  • Contribute to the on-going education of the multi-disciplinary team as to data collecting, entry and reporting with regard to Critical Care Audit.
  • Act as Cerner co-coordination for the critical care unit (Champion user).
  • Assist in troubleshooting IT problems at a local department level.
  • Develop Databases and other software as appropriate and/or as directed by the Senior Clinical lead in Critical Care or Line manager.
  • Use monitoring systems to manage service delivery and escalate problems that arise.
  • Work with the Service Manager regarding all issues & contribute to the improvement of the service.
  • Work with operational managers to manage the administrative implications of business transformation (such as ward reconfigurations or the arrival of new services) and work with Human Resources to manage staff implications such as the redeployment of personnel where necessary.
