Job summary

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and committed individual to lead the Ophthalmology outpatient services at Royal Free Hospital. The outpatient services is a busy department covering multiple ophthalmology specialities including Urgent eye care service .

We are looking for someone who is an enthusiastic and committed professional with the passion and drive to provide the highest quality care to their patients. Someone who will drive the development of the service with focus on quality, efficiency and productivity.

The role will provide an excellent opportunity for the right individual to lead these services delivering excellent care to patients .

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

  • To manage the ophthalmology outpatient department at the Royal Free Hospital, and to have the responsibility for all resources in the department.
  • To be a clinical expert and have overall continuing responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient care in the department, demonstrating clinical leadership.
  • The post holder will work providing expert nursing care, nurse led p clinics and health education for patients attending the outpatient's department
  • The post holder must demonstrate a sound knowledge in the area of ophthalmology nursing and have the ability to co-ordinate relevant clinical issues trust wide and represent those views both internally & externally as required The post holder will be a member of the relevant service group/groups and represent nursing issues accordingly.
  • Participate in the review, development and audit of research-based policies and procedures relating to ophthalmic nursing
  • Develop patient care directives outlining treatment for specific groups of patients using evidence based care practice
  • To effectively manage the department resources, human resources and the clinical environment.
  • To take take charge of the Day surgery unit in the absence of the Band 7 for Day surgery unit.
  • Along with the Day unit Band 7 be responsible for staff allocation, health roster
